Haldighati is best known for the Battle of Haldighati, which was fought on 18 June 1576 between the forces of the Rana of Mewar, Maharana Pratap, and the Mughal emperor Akbar’s forces, led by Man Singh I of Amber. The Mughals won the battle, but Maharana Pratap escaped. The battle is considered a turning point in the history of Rajasthan, as it marked the beginning of the decline of the Mughal Empire in the region.
Today, Haldighati is a popular tourist destination. There is a memorial to Maharana Pratap at the site of the battle, and there are also several temples and other historical sites in the area.
